Possibly the junk-boxiest amp you ever saw. It started life as a 50's (I think) Wards Airline radio. I kept the transformers and the chassis, gutted everything else. Amp is 12AX7 GS -> 5654 GS -> 12AX7 CF -> BoneRay stack -> 6V6. Outrageously overbuilt VVR thanks to parts scavenged from a decomissioned Sun e450 power supply. Very excited about how this turned out. Too excited not to share. So here are some in-progress pics and a very rough noodly recording. Schematic and better pix to follow--should have time tomorrow. : : Amp is mounted in a Vox Valvetronix carcass, speaker is a Weber Alnico Signature 10S. Guitar on the recording is an Ibanez Iceman with SD pickups. : : pix: : [link] : [link] : [link] : : clip: [link] : : Working name Aviatrix--aviation theme based on the wards Airline thing, also the 5654's at the heard of this thing are mil-spec FAA-labeled. : -- I love 5654s, great sounding tubes. |
