The HO has a lotos gain and will never be 100% quiet. On mine with nothing plugged in the the gain and volume turned up it makes a bit of hum and hiss, quite bait really. But then if I plug in a guitar and play. It is so loud it covers the noise. In fact it is so loud with both gains turned up I can't get the volume about "2" without others in the house being really annoyed. With gain controls low the amp is a lot more quiet. So part of this might just be expectations. High gain tube amps do make some hiss and hum One thing I did that helped a LOT and I'm happy I did it was to line the inside of my Fender Srat with coper foil. I covered the entire back side of the pick guard and all the routed out compartments, even the spring compartment and cover. ALL of this is grounded with coper wire soldered to the foil. Really makes a difference when I play in a high gain amp that the guitar is 100 shielded now. |
