My guess is 30 Watts would be about the minimum for your wants. For the various Metal genres, unless you can feel feel the percussion of the machine gun riffs it just takes the fun out of it. So a bias push-pull output stage is the most economical way to get there, and if you going to build a 30 watt amp, you can have 50/60 for same amount of work and cost. A HO front end should work well for metal. It is easily modified to suit all your tonal desires. |
