: soo... my fender highway-1 strat sounds a bit boring and somewhat dark compared to my ibanez made 335 clone. : : : : I wonder what may be the cause. : : : Hmm... : I wonder if this wouldn't be a good time to build yourself one of those Rangemaster Treble Booster clones. Otherwise, perhaps the answer is as simple as your tastes have changed. The fact that you have guitars with distinctive tonal properties isn't a bad thing either. : : : -- Well, I'm not sure the problem is brightness or lack of it, but when the tremelo arm wasn't blocked it was a more lively sounding guitar. It was also brighter. Maybe that's the problem. Sometimes heavy strings+a too firm or heavy wood absorbs vibrations. (For example 11's are the highest gauge good sounding strings on my ibanez, 12's sound dull and 11's on a strat scale may have as much as tension as 12's on a 335). Maybe there is a similar problem) I'll also try measuring the resistance of the pots as they may be crap as Al Taylor says. It takes a lot of time to change the setup of a guitar so that needs some spare time though. Kursad |
