I'm impressed that it wasn't just a squeally monster, that's a testament to your build quality right there. -- it's in two separate boxes. the preamp is on one of prototyping boards, the poweramp is in a chassis for a final build (sort of firefly/dragonfly hybrid). there is definitely a fair amount of noise, but not totally unreasonable given the gain.
