Using DC coupled CF or MOSFETs in my sims only add 50W-70W or so the output with 600V on the plates.

Your running a bit more. I had trouble keeping within dissipation figures with higher then 600V/300V, although I do sine wave testing that would stress the amp much more than actual music content.

Rather then boosting the power, the main goal of using the current boost is to change the tone of the grid clipping. There's been little discussion of actual builds here, although on other forms is commonly enough. Generally when they are added to an existing amp, the result is a louder, cleaner, smoother, sweeter "sounding" amp.

That's something I think would be desired in a bass power amp, especially with KT88s, which tend to clip hard.
